1923S VAM 1G2 – Obv II 1 – Polished T.
Reverse B2a – S tilted right. Same reverse die as VAM 5
Discovery coin NGC 61 4815235-009
Die sequence – VAM 1G > VAM 1G2 > VAM 5. To date, I have seen only a couple of VAM
1G2’s, both with clashed die obv & reverse,. All VAM 5’s I have seen have a clashed die
reverse. My VAM 1G does not have clash marks.
Special thanks to those who have posted their 1923S finds on VAMworld, as I found this coin in the process of answering questions for others.

Re: New 1923S VAM 1G2
The San Francisco mint technicians were very busy polishing Peace Dollar dies in 1923.

Re: New 1923S VAM 1G2
As there are no clash marks on the VAM 1G, die polishing was apparently done to polish out the die crack, which is still evident on the coin.
