1901 0:VAM 26, VAM 32

Post by lhnumis1 » Sat May 13, 2023 12:55 am

The VAM 26 & VAM 32 1901 O coins are examples with doubled profiles. The web pages of these coins in VAMWORLD 2.0 have text descriptions without images. Do there exist other web pages elsewhere that show images and/or additional descriptive text of these coins? If so, it would be most helpful in attributing the coin in hand.

I know of no other online resource. Your mintmark is hi so I am leaning towards the 32.
Have a great day!

Could you please show close up photos of the reverse?
Your LFCP looks like a C4 reverse from what I can see.
If I am correct, your coin can not be either a VAM-26 or 32. Both 26 and 32 are listed as C3 reverses.

Could be a 26 with an undescribed collar clash (as well as the radial die break)? Not a 32 b/c the mm is not set high or tilted right?

Thanks to fogie, Ijs123 and keilg1 for their thoughts and comments…much appreciated.

The V32 and V26 seem to describe the coins attributed to them, such that it appears to me difficult to be sure that the coin in hand is either. In fact, the V32 is not in the Official VAM Listing, but relegated to the “Dubious Listings” category. I would suggest that the V26 be placed in the “Dubious Listings” as well.

Until such time as this is resolved, the coin in hand will reside in the unknown column.

Just to throw gasoline on the fire…I will be bring up another 1901 0 to the forum shortly. This piece resides in an MS64 NGC holder that I personally sent in for slabbing years ago. Trust it may prove of interest.
