The O/O/CC part is actually in the official VAM listing. I've seen the stage with no pitting several times. It's not common by any stretch of the imagination. It is also clearly an earlier stage than the VAM 8A
often the crusher of hopes and dreams

Is the missing portion of the upper left outside of O, what you are referring to as O/O?

Isn't the VAM-8 the one that has no die pitting around the mintmark?
The V-8A has the die pitting.
The V-8B has the die pitting with obverse and reverse die clashing.
The V-8C has the die pitting with obverse clashing, reverse die polishing but no reverse die clashing.

The confusion about no pitting around the mintmark might be that the photo in the VAMWorld V-8 listing has a photo of the V-8A that has the pitting. So, anyone who looks at the V-8 listing sees an O/CC with pitting.
The Full Coin photo at the bottom of the listing is a VAM-8 with no pitting.

I have seen quite a few vam 8 with no pitting. I thought they were relatively common.
