1899 O VAM?

Post by lhnumis1 » Thu May 04, 2023 6:35 am

The coin below seems to grade about AG3 to G4. It appears to be a slanted date with mintmark set high, upright and left. It appears not to be a (VAM 14, 14a1, 14a2) or (VAM 34, 34A, 34B) normal date with mintmark shifted left.

The mintmark itself appears to be of a narrow opening, oval 'O' type.

The slanted dates and near dates do not appear to exhibit shifted left mintmarks, but this slanted date seems to be an exception.

Is wear & die erosion negating the above analysis?
