Thanks for responding andywoj00. VAM 2D appears correct. The images you supplied were impressive and convincing. Those on the web page were not. Many thanks once again. Below find an image of the only clashing on the new VAM 2D of the collection.
I have an 1898 VAM 8 obverse coming up soon with a reverse I can not match...trust it may be of some modest interest.

You're welcome. My humble advice is to not get caught up in the minutia of unlisted marks/scratches et al on a coin. I've only been in the VAM world since 2017, so I'm no expert...far from it.
I focus on the markers and descriptions at the VAM pages. I know, alot of them are lacking descriptive details, making it frustrating sometimes to attrib a coin. Once a coin is locked in, though, it's a good thing to add
additional decent photos of details like date positions, mint marks, distinct polish lines, chips, gouges, etc that may not be listed, but might help others to attrib a coin.

Agree, there is a fine line between looking for PUPs that 'count' and venturing into microVamming. A very subjective part of our world and one that I'm not sure I've navigated well.
Keep exploring and asking your quetions.
