1900-P VAM-1

Post by andywoj00 » Sun Mar 19, 2023 3:11 am

Hello All,
In the hive's opinion, for the subject VAM, could it be a DPIS C3 (Normal Center) date and be slanted as well? There are no pics to reference.

There are no Normal Center slanted date 1900P VAM's that I can find. All slanted are everything but C3.
The only other VAM that is Normal Center date that I see is VAM-24...and it has a slight slant as well not mentioned :?:

Thoughts?
Thanks in advance.....Andy

None of the VAM-1 s should have a significantly slanted date. When George & LVA set this whole thing up they decided to reserve the first spot for each date/mintmark (VAM-1) for the "NORMAL" coin. This is why we are finding that there are some VAM-1 s that do not exist even though they are listed in the VAM book.

See the pics. So how would you categorize this coin? Sorry, it is not in hand as I'm trying to decide if I want to bid on it. Wish it was possible to see if it's an alligator eye or not.

At this point, I would have to agree. The date position on this post coin better matches the plate photo position than my coin that is currently listed at the page. My coin's date at the V4 page is definitely more left, whereas, the plate date is more centered given where the REB1 is.
I may have to reevaluate my coin or send in to VSS for a final judgement.

agreed
pull the trigger on this coin and submit together, not sure how the new variety makers feel about die classes and D1's and D2's.

Can someone help me identify my 1900 O Morgan . The VAM seems to be a Die Break I think. This die break is on the reverse . It begins coming out on the O in the word ONE ….continues around the top of UNITED STATES of AMERI. Stops at the top of the I in AMERICA. I will try to insert a picture. I would appreciate any kind of feed back and or information on this coin.

@Eliseown, welcome to the community.

It is highly recommend you begin your own post if you have a question about a different coin/topic (instead of 'usurping' someone else's - but in reality it makes it easier for us to find and keep track of different communications so things don't get buried deeper down in a conversation).

Also strongly encouraged is helping others educate themselves. To this end, I'd ask: Have you looked through the different listings and guides on the official page for this year and mint http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.compu ... 900-O_VAMs?

I think you'll find there were a lot of varieties this year that make it an interesting one to pin down which one you have. Yet, finding it shouldn't pose too much a problem. Give it a go and (on a separate post) let us know... and if you have any additional questions.
