1884-CC VAM 5...A?
Does anyone have record of an 1884-CC VAM 5 with neck clash and right wreath clash, or is that not notable?

The only other clash not posted is what I call "the flame" of wing feathers in the field on Liberty's Lips.

I'm most interested in seeing the clash line above the eagle's right wing - where does it go... to the I... to the n ... inbetween the n and the G... or quite possibly to the G (as it appears in your picture of the date that also shows the neckline and clash there).
This information will be needed to judge where to look for any letter transfer along the neckline on the front.

This. My clash tool shows the wing clash line will go thru the center of the n. From the pics, I don't see transfer. Maybe have to light it differently, different angles.keilg1 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 20, 2023 5:35 pmI'm most interested in seeing the clash line above the eagle's right wing - where does it go... to the I... to the n ... inbetween the n and the G... or quite possibly to the G (as it appears in your picture of the date that also shows the neckline and clash there).

No need to use any tool - just post a picture of that area for us to see. Like the picture you posted of the area to the right of the eagle's left wing showing the back of the head clash (the right wreath you wonderfully captured), which is pretty but almost always insignificant because it is the letter transfer that creates any noted variety.
Show us the 'In God' and below...
Thanks.

Thanks for the responses. I will take a pic of the Upper wing clash and post it.
The clash (what I call a bat wing) extends midway from the wing towards the center of the n, but doesn't touch.
Andy, you are on your game!

Nice yet here, too, we need to see the clash line alingment on the reverse. Can't wait to see the reverse of @SilverToken's coin...

Oh I can see it , at first my eye thought it was too far away from the wing transfer on the neck line, It has occurred to me that in order to print out a true hillbilly clash tool I would need an exact 1884 cc vam 5 to overlay ... What you circled appears to be the right shape of the one side of an upside down backwards N . I just don't know if it is in the right spot ???. This is truly above my paygrade

Re: 1884-CC VAM 5...A?
Looks way too low to make sense - the back of the cap clash looks to be in an expected orientation for any letter transfer to be a middle distance below the neck clashline - but not that low. I might be convinced of the tick marks higher on the neck (that looked like the curved portion of the G from God), but this won't be solved until we see the reverse picture mentioned...UNCLE BINGO wrote: ↑Wed Mar 22, 2023 12:50 amOh I can see it , at first my eye thought it was too far away from the wing transfer on the neck line, It has occurred to me that in order to print out a true hillbilly clash tool I would need an exact 1884 cc vam 5 to overlay ... Either way the 84-CC VAM-5 is a wickedly cool coin b/c of the 1 on the obverse (IMHO).

Here you go.... will the stars align for a new listing?
Line form the olive branch to the wing also.
A sincere thanks for those that have contributed. Whether it gets listed or not, clashes are cool!

Thanks as this helps.
That decision is above my pay grade, for sure, but I'm thinking it a 50:50 shot. Not bad, but not a guarantee. The big boys (JR and/or JB) would need to chime in. Clash up to the n shows the outline on the neck would show most of the rightside of the letter sticking off of the left side of the neckline... plausible based on your pictures. But the depth down the neckline seems a bit much. What is clearly ruled out is my possibly seeing any G clash further up.
Lovely to watch the story unfold. Again, dang nice coin.

I've got an example sitting on my desk in a virtually identical stage. I just see typical clashmarks without any hint of letter transfer. I added a comment to the VAM 5 page about some examples having clashmarks with no letter transfer
often the crusher of hopes and dreams
