1921P D1 reverse Vam Help please

I have been trying to figure this one out a couple weeks now, off and on and I cannot seem to put a nail in it. Its a D1 reverse with doubling to quadrupling on the obverse (to my eyes) including hair, profile etc with heavy polishing marks. It has been in some kind of holder, the outer edges are still BU while the centers are beaten up a bit, well quite a bit. I thought it was 1S based on scribble lines in top arrowhead, but scribble scratches in tailfeathers dont look correct. Any help greatly appreciated!

You're going to need other stuff. That quad spread is from one of the master dies or working hubs. It appears on multiple varieties

Yeah, focus on your scribbles shot and forget the other stuff
The lines on the arrowhead are in the master die

Photo #7 is not in the 1921-P D1 scribbles guide, which means there is a good chance it is a new discovery.

My suggestions is to get @messydesk to take a look, and if it is a new discovery coin get me, @fogie and @weth in a bidding frenzy for it.

Yeah, I'm not sure I have a handle on this one yet. I saw Photo 7 and thought of the parallel gouges on VAM 1BQ, but I don't think this is an exact match.

Same conclusion here Tom.
The gouges spacing on pix #7 is much wider, and it lacks the adjacent (to the right) pair of gouges that 1BQ has.

This thread is about a perfect illustration of why some of us spoke up and advocated for further research into scribbles when Van Allen asked us if it was worth pursuing. For many, many 21's it's the only unique die feature

This is an eds reverse state, it still has the 6th Upper TF and likely the initial scribbling event

Scribbles evolve over time...layer upon layer.
