guess which 1888-O
I'll say right up front that it's very unlikely anyone will be able to identify this one. (A fellow board member who got an advance head's up said, "You're just being mean.")
The point of this thread is to illustrate that interesting things – as in "significant enough for a VAM number" things – can be found throughout the Morgan date spectrum in the little places that 1921 VAMs call home.
Have some fun, enlarge the photos on your monitor!

Yeah, this specific reverse is part of a larger story and is noted for other markers. Fun!

Re: guess which 1888-O
Because I don't have one and Dennis's scope takes way nice pictures so wanted to be sure .

Without date and MM position, I can not participate. But seriously, I am stumped.
Re: guess which 1888-O
Nice challenge. Unsure but I think I could guess and I'd guess lucky (luckily?). Doesn't match any of the ones I have (as far as I can tell).
Thanks for the head-scratcher (for now).

Dennis sure does take way nice pictures... are you sure he is using a scope? as in micro scope. I am not sure...Things change quickly in technology. ThanksUNCLE BINGO wrote: ↑Mon Mar 13, 2023 12:47 amBecause I don't have one and Dennis's scope takes way nice pictures so wanted to be sure .
Bob, congratulations on your ID! You are becoming a Vampire! lmho

I am trying to come up with another Challenge for you as we speak... A challenge that uses the search engine.
[*]This search engine business is something I would like to figure out. I am having a hard time with this and would like to learn. Thanks for insights...
Please find any photograph of Dennis' [set-up] on this VAM world. Using wiki search.

I use a very sturdy copy stand, a better quality Nikon DSLR camera, a Nikon macro lens, two Nikon extension tubes, and a cable release. I shoot 6000x4000 pixels raw format files, and I tweak everything in Photoshop.

And by VAMPIRE I hope you mean taking pictures of mirrors with no reflection , or glare or out of focus, and very pretty cause that is what MR . D can do , and he does it very well !

Yes Bob, that is exactly what I meant.UNCLE BINGO wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 2:09 amAnd by VAMPIRE I hope you mean taking pictures of mirrors with no reflection , or glare or out of focus, and very pretty cause that is what MR . D can do , and he does it very well !
The other was my feeble attempt to promote the digital camera instead of a scope with Dennis's setup and method for getting those photographs we appreciate. Also, this thread hi-jacking practice I apologize for.
I finally found that photograph and one of the treads. It even pictures my old rickety system in the link.
Using the search engine is a skill. Thanks for your efforts Bob.

Four days is long enough. Here's the reveal (coin looks much better in hand):
When in doubt... don't.
Re: guess which 1888-O
And now the question is... since we know what to look for between the eagle's legs, does another already-designated 1888-O VAM exist in a die state before the Scar Face's "beard" clashing and wonderful crack ever happened?
When in doubt... don't.
