1887 P Counterfeit
I picked this up from eBay a few days ago out of curiosity. Seller said he AT’ed it himself but it was so flawless I was intrigued. The photos were not the best but it looked okay from what I could see. Looking closer, there are some things I’ve never seen before on a Morgan.

Re: 1887 P
Nice to see you're applying your new knowledge on posting pictures - and encouraging you to do more! And welcome back to the community!
Sorry to add, though, that this coin looks 'wrong' to me on multiple levels. Unnatural toning, unnatural textures, cleaned at some point, etc. I'd echo that there's a few things I've never seen on a Morgan before because this doesn't look like most of them...
The seller might have said the AT'ed it, but that doesn't mean much (to me). Especially if they're selling on eBay... no offense to those who do that.
Hope the other members can add clarity and help me learn if my hesitancy on this one is warranted or unfounded.
Again, thanks for sharing and asking questions,

Thank you for that response and input. I really appreciate it. Glad to hear it looks “wrong” to someone else and I’m not losing my mind. Well, wait a minute…

It’s definitely light for being uncirculated. I’m wondering if anyone can chime in on the texture of Liberty’s cheek and the bottoms or those letters. That’s what looks most strange to me.
Re: 1887 P Counterfeit
From the photos, everything about the "thing" is wrong. Any members ever see a reticulation pattern like that of the forehead and hair? The out-of-collar fishtails? Etc.

if its not fake , i have no idea what it could be, Grease all over the die ? Are there any markers to suggest it's real?

Re: 1887 P Counterfeit
There are no markers I could detect at all. The 87 P is one of my faves, so I have several dozen examples of them, many in MS. This looks nothing like any of them. I’m near to certain it’s a fake, but I’ve seen several over the years and this is one of the better ones I’ve seen.
