One the cool darkside VAMs.
What is your grade? (poll above)
Would you send in for conservation?

I'd give it a 60... but she has a nasty cold! Did you find that in the wild or did you buy it attributed? I've been looking for one for more than a decade now.

I'd submit it like it is... The obverse is really nice and I love that toning pattern on the reverse. I have a few Franklin halfs with an awesome static tv pattern that reminds me of yours.

If the toning were on both sides i would say it would limit your buyers. Being that the front is crispy and it's only on the back... I'd leave it for the people that like it. Everyone else will just enjoy the front anyways lol :)

I said 62, but would have picked 61 had it been an option.

Raybob,
I wished I could have said I picked it but I did not. It is attributed and graded and bought it for a premium but I think I paid a fair price.
When I saw this VAM back before I was a VAM collector (90's), I said "WOW that is cool Peace Dollar" and I bought it. That one ended up grading "cleaned AU58" so when I saw this one, I wanted it.

I'd go 63 Patrick.
I'd also leave it just the way it is. :)

IMO, she needs to be dipped. Hard to tell on the REV. I'd give her 63, possible 64 if the REV dips out.

That big scratch under her nose would stop it from going 64 imo...

Joking. Joking, lol...

Leave the back alone, it's unique...

Here's what she is in now. I would say it would come back ANACS 62 imo.

Slightly off topic, but are those the same holder model as the old PCGS greenie rattlers?

And i bet it has a good shot at 63 even with the toning. It's a really good obverse and the reverse toning is more unique than visually detracting, if that makes sense. As long as they can see the luster under it, it shouldn't hold much back against it in my eyes. If it were going for 64 or higher they might keep it down a grade for it... But not in the 62 or 63 range from what I've seen?

Lemme go try to find and dig out one of my 1948 65fbl Franklin's to show what I've seen pass the table and still grade out... I bought it to crack out and dip but haven't done it yet...
