1922D 10a

Post by Jodemyer » Mon Feb 13, 2023 9:23 pm

Picked this raw recently, I'm liking the dark side more and more. (I think I got the light filtered better on these pics.)

Very nice photos and find on the 1922 D VAM 10A with unusual parallel reverse heavy die cracks which are bisected by radial die break. This variety has a lot going on with obverse displaced field break above IN and doubled tiara rays.. Previously, VAM 2K2 was a duplicate VAM listing that I recognized as such which resulted in my first kill. Ironically, Bill Latour shared the 1922 D VAM 2K2 Discovery letter with me at the Raleigh Coin Club Expo where I first realized that VAM 2K2 was a duplicate VAM listing.

Thanks!@jrfaust Thats a beauty you have there! I agree It def wowed me! (I've been playing with the size of paper towel I put inside the scope head trying to get rid of all the glare and surface shine! Finding out it depends on height of scope, which size hole in paper and how brite or which light source. Maddening-has to be an easier way! lol Trying to figure it out! We are the Jody club!

@jrfaust I was looking under the Eagles chin on yours, does it have this mark? I thought is was some kind of PMD but it has been bugging me and looking at yours I thought I saw a trace of the same mark
