Two and two digits that are uneven rather than four that slant. First two were still hubbed. The switch to all four being punched in was in 84. Think this would get called 'high 83' if it crossed my desk and added to the existing description.

Thank John and John.

For the newbs knowing the way the various years were made is an important part of VAMing. Knowledge is king.

John and John, based on the facts of the hub and punch described, would that eliminate or modify the VAM 15 listing in the 83-O series? I have yet to find the VAM-15 and cannot make out the lower loop of the 3 in the encyclopedia to compare to all other 83-Os.

The particular coin i provided pictures of is actually the VAM 21. I will have to pull some of my other VAM 21s which are typically found in PL as to why the doubling in 1 dies not show up in this example.

It's funny, because the 'slanted date' VAM 15 listing actually notes it's the 83 that's higher The plate in the 2nd edition may be easier to make out that what shows up later. The VAM World page notes this is the same obverse as found on VAM 38 paired with a different reverse. Not sure if that's a definitive conclusion or an educated guess. Don't have any notes myself for 15.

I think one would need a VAM 15 in hand attributed by ANACS since you have been around
to say it has the same obverse as VAM 38. There are ~ 4 other VAMs that have a 3 with similar punch deterioration Stage as 38.

I appreciate all the work that has been done on the 83-O pages. Not sure who is responsible, but thank you.
