1934-D mint mark locations
Can anyone shed light of the difference between mint mark locations of Vam-1/Vam-4 and Vam 5? They both appear to have identical high micro mm’s. The 5A in my collection does appear to be slightly tilted to the left.
Re: 1934-D mint mark locations
They were manually punched into working dies before shipment to the other mints. That ensures slight differences between coins from different reverse dies.

You can take care of this problem by tilting the coin slightly to the right; then the MM will be correct.

Refrain from computing the total number of poultry... before the process of incubation has fully materialized.

For some reason it sent my post, before I finished typing my information.
I had it identified wrong, with the strong doubling in the rays, the profile and in IGWT,
on the obv.
Mine is a vam 3.
If you look at the bottom pictures, on the vam 3 page, you will see the mint mark
located in two different locations.
I think, I may be wrong

On the filled D photographs, I think the difference is mostly perspective related . There is a photo of the VAM 4 micro D on that page for comparison.

I have Vam 2,3,3a,4,5,5a,6 specimens on hand. I was trying to catalog a Vam-1 specimen but after comparing B2a and Vam-5’s B2c reverse I cannot see a difference in either MM size or location.
