1881s (It'sV90) Vam 2 obverse help needed with reverse please

Post by Jodemyer » Mon Jan 30, 2023 10:08 pm

I am trying to figure out the vam on this 81 S. Obverse-I have the obverse down as Vam 2,16,32. The obverse is semi PL and is concave/convex and has the Halo luster where as the reverse cartwheels. The obverse is pitted and I have matched the die markers and some of the pitting pattern.
Reverse-Vam 11, which is listed as the EDS of Vam 16 without the gouge on the leaf, has the closest MM location but it is not the same as this one or V-16. Any help is appreciated as I may have missed something.
Thanks in advance I appreciate you all!
Any help is appreciated!

Heres a few of the spiked devices. Also I gave it a Acetone bath to make sure spikes were not something crudlike on it.

I finally figured it out...It's V-90.
I still believe the obverse is the same as Vam 2 although not listed on either pages description of shared obverses.
It was discovered in Feb 2023 thats why I couldnt find it in Jan of 2023! lol
