Hello my VAM Friends! Hey, I've got a 21 peace $ that is a discovery of mine and it currently is in a VSS holder. I'm thinking of sending the coin to PCGS for grading. (I have the voucher for 4 freebies) I would love some opinions on what you think as far as, will this coin straight grade. Hopefully my photo's will be good enough for at least a general consensus. Since I've owned this coin, it only seen an acetone bath.
I'm thinking of including this coin in the 4 voucher freebies.
Feel free to take a stab at possible grade.
Thanks!!!!

55-58. But reverse looks a little raw (too shiny in the last pic), obverse looks a bit subdued with possible light hairlines. If it did straight grade, I would probably 53 it due to aforementioned factors. Maybe if it looked really nice in hand I would 55 it.

EF, likely cleaned or washed with soap. Average detail.
What is your discovery and would PCGS or NGC recognize that on the holder? The label recognition as a discovery cpoin would be the only reason to spend money (even a "free" voucher) on independent "grading."

Hi Roger, the discovery is VAM 1AF. I currently have the coin in a VSS Holder. My intent was to send to PCGS, have it graded, then have John put another sticker on it. But, only if it would straight grade, other wise I'd just leave it in the VSS holder. Hope that made sense. Here's the coin in the holder:

Thanks again Roger for your response and Eschaton!

The newer pictures posted show the cleaning I was seeing in the first pictures much more clearly. Won’t holder problem free. But still nice solid AU details all day. Send it to JR at ANACS.

Thanks so much Eschaton, I think I will just leave as is. It's one of my discoveries and I really don't intend to sell it, just thought if it would straight grade, it would look nice in a PCGS holder.

Thanks again, Both you and Roger for your response it was really helpful!

My nickels worth a penny LOL obv= very weak hair/smashes typical of AU I say 53
rev = Stronger say 58 with details signs
overall my guesstimate au53 det
Anacs would be place for it if you wanted decent TPG because at least they
will give it a net grade But with all said, leave it in VSS
