I'll start here is a few of my favorite vams in my collection starting out with a PCGS MS64 1922 D peace dollar vam-2A elite 30 R7, and my NGC MS63PL 1882 CC Morgan silver dollar VAM-2 misplaced date Hitlist 40, and one of my All time favorites A GSA 1880 8/7 Morgan silver dollar Graded by NGC MS65 Vam-5 High 7 top 100.

Very hard to find 1880 VAM-53. 53A is a lot easier to find. This is mine in PCGS MS-63PL and on the VAM-53 page.

lee I have a question for you about one of the 53 a 's I think ,,,, possibly in a much less pristine condition. .. not sure yet clash match , details , etc .. hard to say for sure about letter transfer kind of thing . I will have to start a topic and post some pictures if you could spare a second , sometime this weekend ... Thank you in advance .///Bob

PS that 53 is a pretty pretty coin IMHO

Be very careful about using clash location to attribute a 53A. I cannot tell you how many times I have seen a 5A or 11A "attributed" as a 53A. They are NOT 53As. But the clash looks similar to a 53A, so that is where the "attribution" ends. I am suspicious of any 53A that is claimed without photo documentation. I am not saying anyone is misattributing on purpose. But that is an error that I see way too often.
My opinion is the single clashed 53A is better to have if you have a choice.

No need to post a new topic , you answered my question before I asked it . I was looking at your plate photo of 53a last night and knew it wasn't right . 5a I shall guess , not near as pretty but thank you so much.

5A is super easy to attribute when you look in the eagle's right wing (left wing as you view it).
Go to the VAM-5 page for the dead give away pick up (two lines) in the eagle's wing.

Read the text also. The reverse is not limited to 5 & 5A.

It might be considered as a High grade in your “high end “ Rabbit eyes. It’s the lowest graded 1888-O Scar H-10 “low ball” found in the wild untouched by pockets of Alabama Rabbits.
Lol, had PCGS “re-graded” it and yes they dropped it to a 30.
