Complete 'die chip wing' set, including VAM-144 which was pre-die chip.
The VAM-100 is my favorite as it was purchased from a dear friend. RIP, BJV.

Very sweet coins to you all ! Maybe somebody would consider pinning this topic or even giving it a sub forum . Just a suggestion because it might become an epic thread instead of getting lost in the pages of time .
I cant really play yet , I kinda figure my best VAM s just don't have numbers on them yet . {probably wishful thinking but you never know }.

To Dennis and Lee and I hope its OK to use your names . I'm afraid both that H 10 scare face, and that CC with the Rim cud would go in my pocket when they put me in the ground , cause I don't believe I could part with them .

WOW! I have always looked for an 1888 O SCARFACE. GREAT FIND!
Here is one, that I found years ago an 1878 CC PCGSMS63 DMPL VAM 11, lines in wing.

As I liquidate most of my VAM collection, most likely the last two I will let go of is my MS-62 Scarface and the only known example of the only known CC Cud.
1892-CC VAM-2A

I saw this a bit ago and I was wondering if this is the stage between Vam 2 and Vam 2a? Or are there many stages. Thats an awesome Cud and I have been researching it and found this one. Thanks!

Those are not too hard to come by. I have seen several and owned one.
Take a look at the VAM-2 and VAM-2A pages.
The pages clearly show this as VAM-2
The VAM-2 page shows an LVA plate photo of this as "VAM-2 Die Crack UR". This was the coin that I submitted to LVA with the VAM-2A.
The LFCP on the VAM-2A page shows this same coin and calls it the "Initial stage of cud". I hope this is not confusing. If it is let us know and someone that works on the pages can phrase it in a way that it is easier to understand.
What you show is a crack from rim to rim. That is called a retained cud. A retained cud is not a true CUD. That is why LVA documented it clearly as a "Crack UR".

Don't stop looking with the retained cud, go out and find a real CUD.
Good luck

Thanks ljs123, I had looked at the pages and this one looked like other cracks were starting to form which in my mind extended the die break and ended up being the 2A that you discovered. The crack on the Vam 2 page is not as wide as your cud so I thought at some point something else had to extend the break to create the proper size cud. Just passing time and trying to learn a little! Thanks and what a wonderful Morgan you have!

It's OK Buddy , I even know how to take pretty pictures of other types of subjects ... One day I will figure out the higher quality way to do it on coins ... Maybe a light box or something .. Defiantly need to get my little Cannon Rebel fixed I think .

Consider this one a crack out , as in NAOH . I didn't like the brown holder anyway .. and in truth I should probably put it back in plastic . At one time NGC had MS 63 on it .. MY novice self would guess the front might get a little better but the back has a tiny scratch don't know if that hurt it or not . .... I made it about as far somewhere near VAM 2B2 .. but i hit the wrong button and deleted the file ... second CC is clear and someone here probably knows , but please don't tell me yet cause I think I can figure it out .

PS IF I get stuck I think I found the best folks on the planet to help me figure it out ... right here on this message board !

Yea- That CC is very easy attrib, so dont overthink it-as its common
Continue your great picture deal, as it is very valuable in coin deal,
You could do well listing and selling coins for other good/lrge clients IMHO

Sorry, but I can't make anything out with these photos.
Your "wider cracks" may be wider, but maybe not. These photos leave a lot to doubt.
You would not believe the coins that have been attributed that turned out to be something different due to a variety of reasons.
For this one, toning, staining, etc. could come into play.
I just don't know for sure one way or the other.

It's still listed I had ran across it on the bay. It is hard to discern but It looks like wider cracks to me but I dunno. Just thought I would ask in case it was a different stage. Thanks for checking it out, maybe whoever buys it will post it!

I just want to give a shout out , kudo , GREAT BIG THANK YOU , to all of you that have had the patience to take a moment to teach the less learned of us . MOST OF ALL ME !!!!!I don't mean to be a pain in the butt at all .Thank you for something that is just not "wash, rinse, repeat" I can see that some of your knowledge has taken a lifetime and I am grateful for you sharing . @morganman Ya i knew it was common and I promise I will get the right die progression # {that thing you hate } before I make any more assumptions about numbers .... that little mistake I made the other day to myself was really a wake up call . I guess that is how you learn .
