1879 S Rev 78 VAM 77?

Post by Maverick23 » Mon Dec 26, 2022 9:13 pm

This coin looks like it has an open "9" but can't see a spike in the leaf. There are "9" Upper Tailfeathers. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Are there pickups on the botton left bol for a VAM9 vs a 77 ? It looked like the VAM77 on some photos has some marks but I couldnt verify this pickup on lower grade coins from the photos online . Just wanted to get a clarification and maybe a new pick up point . Some new eduction for me on this one .
Many Thanks

John

There's a little spike that comes off the the left side of stem just under the boll. It's in a somewhat protected area so it will survive significant circulation. This marker is present on the VAM 9 and 35 obverse. It is not on the VAM 77/77A

This kinda simple PUP is why JR is the true Crusher of dreams, and still employed by
Anacs, the best known 3rd party Attrib in business, because of John Roberts.
