Help explaining metal flow on Cracked Planchet 1921 Peace Dollar

Here are images of a 1921 Peace Dollar with a cracked planchet but I am trying to determine what the metal flow is at the top of the crack between the D and W of IN GOD WE. Almost looks like a die crack but that seems to be just too coincidental. Assume this metal flow appears on some cracked planchets but welcome the opinion of others.

A small part of the crack fell out so metal flowed into the gap.

It's part of the design.

There was probably sufficient impurity at the crack to cause part of the planchet to end up raised a little there, which when worn looks like a die break.
