Daily chronological entries by the Treasurer of the United States recording the Treasury or Mint office involved, coinage by date and total, quantity on-hand, quantity paid out to date, and quantity received. These will be posted on NNP next week, I think.
I have scanned the first 9 complete volumes in this series out of 12 total. These cover Dec. 5, 1878 through June 29 1889. A sample page from Vol 8 is below. (Actual images are much sharper than what is posted.)
Information on each page includes:
Transactions date and sub-Treasury or Mint Bureau office involved (left column); coinage delivered at each mint including previous and a running total; the quantity on-hand at each office; cumulative quantity paid out; and cumulative total received.
Examined over weeks and months, the movement of silver dollars between Mints and sub-Treasuries becomes clearer. The tables also show which mints distributed few dollar coins. When correlated with letters and other archive data in NNP, specialists can get a much better view of how and why the coins did/did not actually circulate among the population. There are also numerous annotations regarding discrepancies and data reporting problems.
