Coin Market Up or down
To All
Just asking the experts on this topic , Do you think the Coin market is doing Good / Bad or just staying level , now during these times of Inflation . Just would like to ask the Vam Crew for thier views and a brief explanation to why they feel as such . Currently Im having a hard time to gauge the market in reguard to coin vaules , Seems RARE VAMS are Healthy and SO SO Gp coins are going down in value . Im just trying to ask the Crew what they are seeing and Why they think this is happening . Please feel free to explain your views . And as always any info is good info .
Thanks
John

Re: Coin Market Up or down
Well, we’re obviously in a self-inflicted economic downturn. So I always try to explain to people that even good assets are sold when someone becomes financially insolvent. When enough people become financially insolvent, and enough of those good assets are sold, the price will tank since there’s more ppl selling, then there are buying. Economics 101.
As such, I would say, there’s a very real possibility that we will see coin prices fall at some point.
That said, there will also be positive pressure, potentially pushing prices up, since many people, in particular those who got suckered by bitcoin and other crypto currencies will be looking for more secure tangible assets that can’t be hacked and lost on fraudulent exchanges.
Not to mention during times like these silver and gold coins historically tend to be attractive to investors as safe havens as other asset classes come under pressure.
We also have a unique situation where Russia (think of it as an oil company with an army) is looking at pegging the price of its oil to the price of gold. That would have incredible upside potential on both gold and silver, since a rising tide raises all ships when it comes to these two monetary metals.
All that is to say, as always, it’s a crapshoot. Cheers lol not sure I helped ha!

Re: Coin Market Up or down
I would love to take a stab at this excellant question, especially since i seem to have tons
of Opinions, Especially on various markets. LOL
Coin prices through the Pandemic & Forward have remained exceptionally strong, as the
Stock Mkts continued to make money for its players/investors, thus also providing 20+ yr
highs for the U. S. Dollar, which we all figured was un sustainable.
As inflation surged terribly, enough money was being thrown around globally, to keep Goods,
Services and Hard Type Assets afloat and actually gaining, as folks had extra/discretionary funds
to cover increased costs. The Huge Looming problem is now the Housing Mkt is finally weakining,
which will Alieviate tons of that personal refi money, to pay high interest credit cards & short term
debit. As we loose equity in housing, costs of goods & services continue to rise, U S dollar continues
to fall, it all signals a impending mass failure/recession which is sure to be softened originally by
The Feds actions of raising interest rates, which ultimately puts pressure on economy, as funds
are simply tight to pay bills period.
So with all this mess just starting my take is simple, just the way i like it.
As the Government/Feds set up fancy words/actions to legally lie to its American public,
who it was created by anyway, we enterinto unchartered financial territory unlike we've seen
in previous downturns. Now we see huge inflation but Gold struggling to keep $1800, of which in
retrospect should be much higher. Silver is a joke at $20/$30 and palladium hitting $2300 a few
months ago, up from about $400/$500 a few yrs back, just verifies how fake these mkts truly are.
looks like more of same to come as Gov attempts to put multiple band aids on to a screwed
up setup, with 31+++ Trillion with a T in National Debit. I cant even figure the interest on that. LOL
Coins & other hard assets may continue to feel the crunch , losing premiums as we enter further
into this Armagedon Financial screw up.
So housing terrible overvalued, stock mkts and U S Dollar way overvalued and Gold/Silver
way undervalued looks to endin real disaster moving forward.
Coins with large premiums look scary to own, as well as any other assets like ART that is
notorius for huge premiums. All one little guys Big IMHO

Re: Coin Market Up or down
It it up if you're buying; down if you're selling. The ones getting rich are auction companies and (some) show organizers. The grading services would probably be doin better if the long lead times (due to extraordinary volume and the covid shutdowns) were not discouraging even more submissions.
That said, I am seeing some coins bringing stronger money than a couple years ago. That is why I have held back on expanding my own early dollar variety accumulation. More generally though, I sense we are presently in that region where auction fees and bourse/travel expenses are close to any potential realized profits. The likely lack of accommodation of that could hurt the broader market.

Re: Coin Market Up or down
I sold over 100 coins in the HA VAM auction yesterday. I liquidated most of my Top 100, Hot 50, and Hit List sets. The top pop and rare coins ALL sold higher than I expected. The common low grade VAM's almost all sold at or below market.
I had a range for the total sales and hit the top of my projection so I am very pleased to say the least.
I hope everyone is excited to add their new coins!

Re: Coin Market Up or down
There were some strong prices in that sale. Glad it was a success for you. I came away empty handed.

Re: Coin Market Up or down
IMHO; HERITAGE vam sales as well as PL/DMPL special periodic auctions will continue to draw
more & more buyers/sellers as clients become aware/familiar with the offerings of
specialty Morgans
No body does a better job than Heritage IMHO
