Here is a question about CBH grading, I thought I'd run by everyone. These can be very tough to grade as a series.
Note what a difference the reverse detail is as compared to the obverse. What would be your grade guess here?

My first reaction (although I've never owned a Bust half) was XF40. But flat spots on the hair detail made me decide to go with VF35.
When in doubt... don't.

Interesting response, which is why I posted this. I will hold off till we have more people chime in.
BTW, this is a 210 year old coin created on a screw press. Metal flows are quite common on these too.

This will be a fun one for me (still learning all the time I hope) to find out the actual grade.

Looks like a really nice piece. The wing edges are fairly sharp, consistent with being graded AU, but there's wear on the obverse that stands out more. I can't get a good read on the surfaces or luster, so I'm going to say it is graded XF45.

Agree with an AU reverse, but that doesn't help much with a grade. Playing with a picture, but I'm not picking up traces of obverse luster. I'd say XF 40 max. Looks fairly original too.

Thanks for your comments. The coin is XF-45 and rotated CCW 40 degrees. There is good luster on the reverse and some on the obverse. Interesting thing about the Capped Bust halves, is the frequent full 1 grade difference between the two sides.
