1900-P near 2x date C3 rev - not seeing it described

I'm sure this is somewhere but I don't think this totally matches up the closest potentials. All digits clearly doubled and looking to be 'real' doubles - not machine doubling.

Near date, so this rules out the description of the VAM-12 which is clearly very near but describes the digit doubling in a similar fashion.

Other close one is the VAM-23 that has doubling of the tops of the 1 and 9 similar to this coin, but this shows doubling of the 0s and I don't see any evidence of star doubling (and don't see any similar crack from the neck to the 1). The date might be slightly low like the VAM-23 but I'd not describe it that way...

None of the other non-proof near date C3 flavours (5, 9, 10, 20, 22 or 28) say anything about full date doubling.

No other strong PUPs I can see apart from a small die scratch in the hair ribbon.

Thoughts from the vox populi (being equivalent to the vox dei according to Elon Musk)?

My first reaction is machine doubling. How does the first right star look?

First right star appears completely normal as do the other stars:

First two on the right:

First right star top (where I'd think the machine doubling would be):

And the bottom (that might indicate a VAM-23) - apparently clean:

There appears to be doubling of the profile which either supports or contrasts with possible machine doubling (but it seems to be at a different angle - huge assumption there was no rotational issues). Here's the lips but see similar doubling up the nose to in front of the eye:

No other elements doubled (to or away from the rim) on the obverse that I can see, but that isn't much confirmatory information... although I'd expect some doubling of the left stars somehow (but can't put my finger on why I think this).

Thanks, JB, for your help!

Lips are definitely machine doubled. Magnitude and direction are similar to if not the same as the date. The date is punched into the die separately from the hubbing until 1909. Seeing similar doubling on both the date and devices of this coin help confirm that it's machine doubling. This effect isn't always confined to a certain area of the coin. It's a little odd that it's on the mouth and not on the stars, but the appearance of machine doubling all depends on how the coin comes back into contact with the die.

Brilliant and makes sense. VAM-5 most likely then? Don't believe it to be a VAM-6 based on descriptions.

Thanks again, John!

Near date with C3 reverse and nothing else notable is VAM 5.
