1893-CC VAM 2 LDS
Had this come across my desk today. It's a later stage of the VAM 2 marriage that occurs after the VAM 2A stage. It is identical to the purported 'branch mint proofs' but there's no trace of mirrors. I've see other examples, but this one is 58ish and tells its story fairly well. It's a coin that pretty much disproves the idea of a ceremonial 'last strike' as the reason for the 'BMP' pieces. As it trashes the most plausible theory for why they'd exist, it calls their status as BMP strikes into question as well.
