are eBay buyers clueless?

I ask this question just about every morning as I transfer the previous day's VAM sales information to my database, because there is often obvious evidence about the answer.

I'm talking about sales that happen on the same day for the same date, same VAM, same grade, and same TPG whose prices are often much different. But the ones that really get me are when lower grades sell for more money. This happens more often than you might imagine. Here's are examples of sales that happened yesterday. Those at the bottom of the list happened earliest in the day; those at the top happened latest:

The 1882-O/O VAM 7 in ANACS-50 sold for $89, while the ANACS-53 example sold for $58 later in the day. Not the way I'd have done it, but...

The three 1883-O VAM 4s, all graded by NGC, were really silly.
-- First, the MS64 sold for an accepted "Make Offer" of $150.
-- Next, the first MS63 sold for a BIN of $160 (I round up).
-- Then, the last MS63 went for a BIN of $170.

These kind of things happen all the time, and I stopped trying to make sense of them many years ago.

It is very common/daily to see these varied prices received on Fleabay, because
some buyers just dont do research, and the bidding hype also gets involved.
This is why we see details/cleaned and lower graded Morgans bring crazy money
periodically. Buyer beware if you are not ready to do some pricing homework.

Conversly, some real deal coinsof higher value get sold on cheap as large or money
dealers have quit Fleabay, so dollars and knowledge are lacking to provide decent sales
This is why Heritage, GC & other reputable auction firms are kicking ass over the likes
of Fleabay. Buyers that use these companies are more knowledgable and way better
funded natrually.

As Heritage is now conducting periodic Vam auctions, i would expect to see some
more consistent pricing our beloved vams moving forward. Also now that GC is
acknowledge Varslab/VSS vams & heritage as well, more exposure will lead to better
priced sales. Heritage and GC customer service both need to be aware of our SSDC
new price guide, so they can reference values as well as population reports, within
their individual coins descriptions. This would help buyers make informed purchase
decisions. It will also help these auction houses reputations for providing vam values

And so is 98% of the rest of the population. I'll spare you my theories on how this came about.
But notice the "food" in the carts of grossly overweight people at the grocery store.
Look at the big homes a young couple will purchase just to keep up appearances.
Notice the Monster Trucks on the road that have never carried a payload, and could have been easily replaced with a fuel efficient Toyota.
How many thermostats are set at 75 degrees, when a drop in setting and a sweater is money in the bank?
I shouldn't need to touch the third rail of politics and religion for VAMmers to readily see that the average person is below average.
Don't expect it to change.

Ha ha ha well put, i see those sales and take advantage every chance I get when I see an obvious raw vam selling for low $$. I used to sell on ebay 20 years but refused to bend knee letting them play with my $$. So now all those fools that sell for less and and china fakes can have fleabay
