Hiatus

Post by vampicker » Wed Oct 26, 2022 3:29 pm

I'm taking a break from the site for a while. I'm running up against a significant backlog and need to focus on people that actually pay me for my opinions. I find myself getting irritated by too many of the recent posts. Don't bother PM'ing me, as I've got work to do and won't respond.

John I don't Blame you. I tried to make a comeback, but it's not the same VW it was from the early days.

I totally understand your frustration John. People ask questions, then push back against both replies and credentials. It's a story as old as VAMworld itself.

Thanks for hanging in there as long as you did.
When in doubt... don't.

Sorry to hear this JR- Even though we never got along, stemming back several yrs, you have
proved your dedication/professionalism here, together with helping
members who asked.

I may in fact be one of members you get frustrated/pissed at, as i post
outside the box posts quite frequently. Hopefully not but we all have various
experiences and backgrounds that mold our personalities.
Wishing you less stress and continued success in this business/sport

I have taken a break here over the yrs, only to come back to this great site
with re newed thoughts and continued love of Morgans.

Stay safe-healthy & happy as life is challenging
but beautiful.

JR
I’m very sad to hear this, but I can understand your need to do this.
I wish you all the best. You have been a great source of knowledge.
Thank you for all your help on VAMworld.

FYI, you are still going to be helping me. 😀
My 1882-O Discovery Coin should be on your desk shortly, if it isn’t already there.
Thank you

While I will miss your posts, it is not really a surprise. Let's just hope JB doesn't get to this point.

I REALLY don't envy you JR... I backed way off from here quite a while ago, but I'm like a grandparent, I can have fun with it when I want to, then just "give it back" and ignore it as I wish. You're like a parent, you can say "I don't wanna deal with this anymore!", but then you turn around and there it is, cuz it's your job in life to care for...
Enjoy your break, I hope it gives you greater peace!
Ps: I know that the real reason is that you're pissed for missing that 62PL VAM-18 and you're just devoting more time to hunting!
Pss: Don't feel too bad, I'm pissed too!!
I go totally NUTS for WOW! VAMs!! Or is that from WOW! VAMs?

Hey Squirrel; We all need a breakat some point, for a myriad of Life's reasons
After decades of coining i too am kinda burned out and certainly overwhelmed
working to sift thru to many Morgans, and decide which to sell.
Just physically devoting all the time necessary is a real pain
At 68 yrs young, failing health and eye problems, its all a daunting challenge

After 5+ decades coining im in " Been Their -Done That Mode" LOL

Even though our personalities are of " The Clasher Varieties", I acknowledge your committment
here as evidenced by the " WOW" list of which i use and love. thanks much

I think the thing to do right now is RELAX. Everyone needs to get away for a while now and then, and everyone gets slammed with work now and then. That's really all that's happening. Meanwhile, do what you can to enjoy the hobby and help others to enjoy it as well. There are some exciting developments this year -- a new 8TF early die stage, a new 02-O "Family" die pair, a new Thornhead die stage, a good diagnostic for finding the 21-S Zerbe dies business strike, and most importantly new collectors becoming interested that need guidance toward the "gentle introduction" entry points into VAM collecting that got many of us started.

(What new 02-O contemporary counterfeit and Thornhead, you say? Stay tuned!)
Welcome to the VAMWorld 2.0 discussion boards. R.I.P. old VAMWorld.

Let us all here hope that JR is putting feet in water whereever he so chooses
and is enjoying a break, that we all need sometimes.
Withot dedication from JR & JB this site would not be as great period
And we must not forget the living king of vams: LVA kudos to all three as well to
others that have contributed so much!

Thank You All So Much

Question: Is the "Hi-8us" a new VAM variety...?
:)

Enjoy the break! We all need space at times.
