I have checked my PEACE DOLLAR DIE VARIETIES DESCRIPTIVE LISTINGS from 2016 when it first listed.
No die chip listing .. I have 2 1922-P VAM 2EM back to back holdered . I will dig them out .
I have both coins in hand ,,Show NO die chip at hair end , both same as LVA VAM 2EM listing in all
listings from 2016 -2020 . OH SHIT their is a PROBLEM .
Check your paper move the photo out of the way . Your pictures are not a match for the REV .

Here is an image of the lower part of the letter. Clearly my coin is very different from the current VAM 2EM listing.

I don't see anything in the current listings matching this. I had thought this may have gotten revised before the update came out, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I'd suggest you PM Dr. Close

I looked through Leroy's archives and the problem might be that he had a data loss in 2015 and reused the number. I don't see the 2015 supplement, but in the 2016 supplement and in a couple letters sent out in 2016, he says that VAM 2EM has a pitted reverse and says nothing about the die chip. I searched his archive of letters and didn't find any other references or your discovery letter
I propose that your coin be relisted as VAM 2FN, still as the discovery piece, essentially renumbering the original VAM 2EM. I'll double-check with David to see if that number has already been used.

The coin listed above as "VAM 2EM discovery" is actually VAM 1i. Note B1 reverse.
Leroy evidently reused the "VAM 2EM" designation for another variety w/ pitted reverse die. In my 2015 supplement, there is no mention of the die chip for VAM 2EM.
Hope this is helpful,
David

The reverse image posted looks like a B2 to me. Might be worth digging out the VAM 1i discovery piece and flipping it over. Didn't find the obverse plate earlier because I didn't look through the B1 listings.

I have this 1922-P VAM 1i in hand .. This coin has heavy clashing but was filed off
by mint . Their could be REV E out running around , some of the OBV clash are still
in place and some have been file ..
