Rotation

Post by dcz » Tue Aug 09, 2022 1:31 pm

I have two coins with rotation, one is an 1879 s with about 10 degrees of rotation, the other one is an 1889 p with about nine degrees of rotation. I cant find any VAM's for these. Are these no big deal, or do I have something cool. any input would be appreciate.

Rotation under 15° isn't considered a big deal. Other features of the coins will help with the attribution more than the rotation will.

Slight rotations such as you have are fairly common throughout the Morgan series, and are not enough to bring a value premium – although some sellers try by hyping them up to be more special than they really are. Even coins with big rotations (45 degrees or more) don't get a VAM designation for that feature alone, because they are all VAMs for other reasons.
When in doubt... don't.

At home page, there is a list of known VAMs with 15deg or more rotation
