1880-O Elimination Question RE-DONE
I have an 1880-O with all the PUPs of a V-58, yet the 58 has been Re-Classified as a V-66. Now the 66 has been Re-Classified as a duplicate of the V-51. My coin has none of the PUPs shown on the pages for a 66 or 51 nor do those pages list any features listed on the V-66 page. Was the VAM 66 eliminated wrongly or was there a typo and 66 is the wrong "new" number?

Re: 1880-O Elimination Question
I don't see where VAM 66 has been eliminated. I have no record of eliminating it and Leroy's records still show that it's cataloged.

Re: 1880-O Elimination Question
Let me rephrase the question. Is V-66 the wrong reclassification for V-58 as my coin shows all the PUPs for a 58 but none for a 66 or 51? Should I be looking for my coin under another listing?
Re: 1880-O Elimination Question RE-DONE
51 & 66 are the same as best I can tell - I have no idea about 58. I may be able to learn more about it when I get home.
Re: 1880-O Elimination Question RE-DONE
VAM 66 was determined to be a duplicate of 51 a couple days ago and was eliminated. The VAM 58 pictures are mine, taken to improve on pictures that were previously on the page. There are no pictures of VAM 58 in the 2005 supplement, which is when it would have been first listed. The pictures on the VAM 58 page do not match VAM 66, but the mint mark is also not at normal height, as specified. I would look at other varieties for a match to what's pictured on the VAM 58 page.

Done that. Nothing. That is my main question, Why was the 58 eliminated and to what? Here is a pic of mine showing the unmentioned crack that can be seen on the full coin pic of V-58.

Re: 1880-O Elimination Question RE-DONE
I have the coin and pictures for V51
And I have Brent's Discovery Coin V66
They are the same
V58 on page is my coin( LFCP) has nothing to do with 51/66 KILL
It may just be a typo in the supplements????

Yeah, seems like something strange happened regarding that VAM.

without regards to how it happened - I have made an effort to restore the VAMworld page to the active spot.
Re: 1880-O Elimination Question RE-DONE
Redemption, thank you.
Re: 1880-O Elimination Question RE-DONE
I can officially reinstate VAM 58, but the question remains as to why the description of the mint mark is clearly different than the one that is posted. There are no photos from Leroy, so unless someone has the discovery piece that Logan once had, we're not going to know for sure what he saw.
