Intuition - sometimes it pays to go with your gut feel?

Post by keilg1 » Thu Jul 21, 2022 11:01 am

I've often looked at a coin, not able to type it immediately but sense something about it looks 'right.' The result is more often than not me purchasing yet another variety I already have one or two of... picking up a nice coin but not filling a hole in my proverbial book.

Sometimes, though, I get surprised by my subconscious mind picking up on something my higher-level intellect didn't. Or it's just blind luck. I dunno... but don't often fret about it because I love the hunt, I love the reward(s) whatever they are, and I love sharing a story like this one.

First two pictures are FCO and FCR of what I could see. Blowing up the pictures didn't lead to clarity - only smudged confusion. Decided to put a bid on it - bidding on the low side because it was graded by a well-known overgrading organization... got it and waited patiently to get it in the mail. Arrived the other day and a very quick glance showed a few nice surprises.

I hope the rest of your July and August are met with a similar 'oh inn't that nice' moment.

Looking forward to cracking it out of the current and clearly incorrect holder, but I think it'll grade at least a 63PL...

Nice 'pick! :D
And bravo for bidding cautiously because of the TPG's reputation.
Let us know how it grades out.
When in doubt... don't.

Oh darn. I thought you were going to reveal a 14.16. I pass on VAM 23 unless it is high grade.
