1923 s Unlisted Radial Die Break with photos
Unable to find match for this 1923 s Peace $. Reverse shows radial die break from rim up through left side of C (PEACE) which continues through rock zig zagging toward far right claw. Long unabraded clash spike from eagle's shoulder similar to VAM 1AG but longer and even more closely doubled. Clash mark from lowest olive extends across first ray below L. Strong clash marks on eagle's back at the usual areas (3rd ray above ONE) and check mark clash across next to last ray at top. Strong peripheral die crack extends from above ONE up through bottom of UNI and top of PLURIBUS through top of eagle's head (beak) through top of UNU.
Obverse shows weak die crack through diagonal part of N (IN). Beveled field at left base of first ray from front of hair. Clash marks below R with beveled field across V at hair and hair bun. Long die crack/scratch through rays from tip of ray next to I across to third ray right of B. Long weak die crack from bottom right R through top of hair bun across bottom of T down through middle of Y and ending in field below. Interesting light radial die crack just below Y bisects peripheral crack and extends across to bottom of hair bun
Coin is blast white BU with struck through grease in center of obverse and reverse.
Perhaps Dr. Close would like to examine this piece.

I would like to see photos first. I don't offhand recognize the description, but it may be a LDS of one already listed. In any case, nice pickup!

Re: 1923 s Unlisted Radial Die Break
Is this the die break? If so, it is VAM 1AG. The ULDS has an obverse rim cud above RT.
Re: 1923 s Unlisted Radial Die Break
I believe I might have sent that to Leroy years ago. Forget what I said. Will have to see if I got something on it.
Re: 1923 s Unlisted Radial Die Break
Yes, that radial die break matches my coin. Why is this PUP not listed under VAM 1AG?
My coin shows the radial die break on the rim and all the way up the rock to the tip of the far right talon.
This specimen looks to be mint state, but it's struck through grease center obverse and center reverse.
Photos will be posted in the near future.

The reverse die break is only on LDS coins. The variety was listed for the die clash.

This particular specimen is about to cross JR's desk. Quite unusual to see combination with radial die break across C (PEACE), strong clash marks, obverse rim die break above RT, double clashed spikes off eagle,s shoulder, and loss of detail on center of both obverse and reverse (Strike Through ?).
SUPER BALD EAGLE seems to fit the decor on this coin.
Sometimes the VAM Variety is visually enhanced by a striking error.
Photos of coin are provided on red cloth background.

This coin has been around for sometime now. I believe Leroy has seen it a few times as well as David has.
