Anyone recognize this 79-S?

Post by vampicker » Fri Jun 24, 2022 9:54 pm

Thought it would be pretty basic since it has a strong RPM - but I'm coming up empty.
Ring any bells?

Wow, think you're right. Looks a little different in a higher grade. But, there's enough there to convince me it's a match. Thanks!

The scratches in the upper tail feathers don't look like a match from here, but you have the coin.

If it's not the same, then it's a seriously evil mimic. There are multiple vertical lines under the cotton bolls and that diagonal line in the L of LIBERTY too.

The more I looked at it, the more I think it is a serious evil mimic for the reverse die.
V137 mm seems to be slightly higher and more to the left than yours.

The strong polishing lines at the base of the UTFs should/will be an easy key PUP for this VAM, even in modest grades.
When in doubt... don't.

You'd think that, but it's a central point of the whole 'evil mimic' thing. This is now officially VAM 145
