1897 Vam 6A

Post by yobo » Mon Jun 20, 2022 10:28 pm

I picked up a 1897 Vam 6A at a coin show that has a dot on the eye. I have a few of these and have not found any others with a dot. Any help would be nice. Thanks.

No it is a a dot on the eye.The obverse matches an EDS of a Vam 1 with the pitting of vam 1A. I went to my LCS and he helped to verify the vam 1A.

So is the J shaped scratch at the bottom of the ear present? Why is the 'dot' a different color?
I'll invite you to entertain the idea that I and others on this site might know a little bit more about VAMs than your guy at the local coin store.
