I have a 1921 P VAM 3A1B with die gouge from tail feathers. The die scratch from left wreath to left star is weak and incomplete. There is pitting from first A (AMERICA) towards the rim. Coin is AU 58 White. Would you still call it VAM 3A1C ?

The 3A1C attribution page heading very clearly says and shows that it has a gouge at the tailfeathers -- "1921-P VAM-3A1c Scribbling Die Scratches, Spiked Tail Feather, Die Gouges Stage 1"
The old thread was, as I recall, an embarrassing mess. But the attribution pages were cleaned up and are correct, as is this VSS sticker:
When in doubt... don't.
