Help with 1896-P Near Slanted Date, Doubled 1 Tripled 896, Doubled Motto and Reverse
Picked this flashy lady up raw as nicely struck and thought I saw doubling in the six. Looking closer there appears to be slight doubling in the 1 and tripling in the 896 plus other interesting features.
The 1896-P page has a shorter list than most and I went through all of them without finding this one. I also re-reviewed the NSD list: VAM-8 and -23 are listed as NSD but the 1 is further left for both dies. VAM-12 has the 1 in almost the same position and has double arrows however the wing gap and other features don’t match.
All attribution help is appreciated. Near Slanted Date, LE3/RH4, the 9 & 6 being almost twice as far from the denticles as the 1 & 8.
-------------------------------------------------- 1 slight doubling both sides above lower crossbar
-------------------------------------------------- 8 tripled outside left upper loop; bottom inside and outside right lower loop.
-------------------------------------------------- 9 doubled outside left upper loop, tripled outside right; inside bottom lower loop and where the two loops meet.
---------------------------------------------------- 6 tripled outside left; bottom inside and top outside of lower loop; right outside of upper loop

I have a V12. I think it matches.

Yup, you are correct. For at least one of the multiple die sets and ours isn't explained. I let the Die set 2 pictures with lots of polishing lines confuse me again.
I just cropped some features from the RonH FCPs and they match what would be die set 1 but don't show the detail in the date needed to identify this die set. Or is the tripling wiped out with die use? Both his reverse pics have the thread in the right wing, which is not clear in the close up on the page. There is also a third FCP set that is not the same as the RonH ones as there are lots of other polishing marks and the date is slightly left of ours at RE2/LH4. See below. What stage is your coin at? I think mine must be very early to still have the tripling in the date.
I think there needs to be more close up pictures and comments on the die sets at the page. Should I just create a new post to ask someone to add a series of pictures and comments explaining the die set variations? Would you be able to review my suggestions?
Thanks for the help.

Mine is a die #1. No doubling of date. The reverse has the threadlike in the wing, wing gap and bow have diagonal lines.
