Re: Gas Prices
That's exactly what it was to fill my 5 gallon can for my mower last time. And with cutting 2 acres, it goes fairly fast.
Re: Gas Prices
$25 didn't fill my gas can. My big ride-on mower sucks it up. We've gone over $5 in most stations here on the Oregon coast.
Re: Gas Prices
It's bad times. It's $4.21 to $4.38 here in the Athens/ Decatur Tennessee area. They said the other day JP MORGAN Chase said that gas would be around $6 to $7 dollars a gallon this summer and Deisel would be around $10+. That really gets into my Morgan and Peace Dollar money. Since I drive around 40 miles a day round trip to work. I guess I'll have to get a horse and biggie. It will be like 1878.

I could say a lot of things that would probably make a lot of folks very unhappy. Then again, some folks would get it. But since this is a VAM site, I will refrain.

I ask this question, "If I fill my car up with gas and drive off without paying. Is that grand larceny"?

Re: Gas Prices
How long do you have to work to pay for the tank (gallon, etc.) of petrol? That is the most important immediate question and relates directly to your ability to purchase the product. It might also affect your ability to travel and buy those much-desired VAMs from the little old lady in Dubuque.
Further, the extraction and handling costs of domestic crude have increased approximately 12% over the past 2 years - most of this is transportation and the rest labor. Refining has also increased at about the same rate, but pipeline distribution cost is up only slightly. The major US petroleum companies have no need to import anything - the US is entirely self-sufficient in petroleum and natural gas production, therefore, the oil companies should increase their domestic wholesale prices to equal the higher cost of doing business.
But the US oil companies have not done that. They have used the open market spot prices as a substitute for their crude petroleum costs, thereby increasing their profits by the difference between total domestic production cost and spot petroleum. This is commonly known as "price gouging" or "unlawful collusion and price fixing." It might also come under RICO statutes.
Don't complain to your local independent gas station owner. Complain to the US petroleum companies and your state's Attorney General, and the US Justice Department.
