1924 P Help Needed, Please

Morgans I can do with ease...Peace Dollars are my kryptonite. I can't grade 'em and I have extreme difficulty attributing them, so please indulge me and help me out as I try to learn the ways of the Dark Side.

I have a 1924 P that I've owned since 1994. I started VAMming in 2006. I still haven't figured this one out. I think it is just a nondescript VAM 1, but it is hard to tell as the entire surface of both the obverse and reverse, fields and devices, exhibit extreme die wear. Here are images of the full coin.

Nothing of note that I can see on the obverse except for what appears to be a small crack at the T (but could also be some toning/discoloration) and at the hair bun.

The reverse shows the same die fatigue (at least that is what it appears to be to me). There is no doubling that I can see. No clashes.

Can anyone offer some insight on this coin and help me better understand what I am seeing?

I noticed on this coin (and several other Peace Dollars I have) small areas where there is a line in the rim. Is this a collar clash? All the photos I have seen of collar clashes have what appear to be reed impressions, forming a dotted line. In this coin, the line is unbroken and follows the arc of the edge exactly.

Not a collar clash. They tend to show up on the reverse (hammer) die and look like a dashed line from the reeds.

Thanks, John. That's what I thought, but didn't know what I was looking at. I have coins with this partial line on either side of the coin that is centered in the rim and follows the arc. I did not know if this was part of the design or something else. I have never seen a collar clash in person, either. I never knew that it could occur only on the reverse. Thanks for the info!

On Peace dollars, the reverse die is the hammer die, and it's the one that will hit the edge of the collar in a slightly unaligned clash. On Morgans, the obverse is the hammer die. The anvil die just sits there, already inside the collar.

Bumping to the top. I keep staring at this under the scope and loupe and still can't see anything other than the wierd surface wear. I am about ready to call this VAM 1 except for the the die wear. Am I missing something?

Check the E in LIBERTY , is their a break . is their a gouge or crack a neck thur T ..
If their is zip then I would say VAM 1 .

Nothing at the E. Crack thru T. Pics of both areas are above. Can't match the T crack, which seems too small to be listable. Also, it may not even be a crack; it could be surface discoloration. Thanks.
