Calling ALL VAMMers - Rotated dies
Since shortly after the SSDC registry went live there have been a number of folks that wanted a 'Rotated Die" set added. That may come to fruition. I need to know what VAMs are known with rotated dies - Please let me know if you know..... Thanks!

You've likely seen this page, but it is the one I have used for a number of years..... http://vamworld.com/wiki/Morgan_Dollar_Rotated_Dies there are likely some to be added to the list.

Don't forget the PEACE DOLLAR- ROTATED DIES
Re: Calling ALL VAMMers - Rotated dies
The VAMworld page is great but I know there are some that are not on same - that is why I am "crowd sourcing". There are no Peace dollars on that page and I know of no rotated Peace dollars... I have no idea of who Mike C. is or how to get a hold of him....

Mike Cioffoletti has an ebay store at lakescape2004

Thanks for pointing out the rotated die page, @lured_in_again
Love the thought as these are fun to find.
General question: How, though, to report ones that are actually rotated versus those that are not? For example, plenty of 1888-O VAM-9 coins in existence (I have three without trying to find them) with none rotated much but I'd not count any of them in this registry. Have a cleaned 1886-O VAM-11A, too, with the rotated 2 + 2 clash but the coin alignment is within normal wiggle room.

Re: Calling ALL VAMMers - Rotated dies
Got back 2 rotated Peace dollars in my last ANACS submission, 1922 ccw 40 degrees in AU 58, and 1923 cw 50 degrees AU details cleaned. Will try to VAM them and get a photo or two on here.
Re: Calling ALL VAMMers - Rotated dies
when entering a coin into the registry there is an option (now) to check for rotated die nd how much rotation. additionally there is a way to modify an exsisting entry.
Re: Calling ALL VAMMers - Rotated dies
I did not put in the CW or CCW designation as we all know that would just get confusing. Full slab images would be great for the rotated coins, especially inside the set designed just for them.
For Morgans, I wrote an article almost a decade ago on how to precisely compute the relative die rotation easily in a slab. It was in an issue of The View. A second part on Morgan clash rotations didn't materialize as the publication went away.

If done carefully, one can arrive at around a half-degree precision. However, it probably makes sense to round up or down to the nearest 5-degree increment for the Registry.

Brilliant. My wife, however, will not be happy knowing you are aiding and abetting activities that are asking me to choose buyuing her flowers or... more... rotated... slabs... of... old... silver...

Re: Calling ALL VAMMers - Rotated dies
Flowers wither and die - old round bits of silver on the other hand..... (I am single....)

Any chance of doing a guide for the rotation of Peace $? I have a nice one, think it's about 90 degrees.

Re: Calling ALL VAMMers - Rotated dies
There already is a Morgan Dollar rotated die set in the SSDC registry. It's called "Rotated Die Morgans", but it does not work properly.
For a complete list of known rotated Morgan Dollars, go to the VAMWorld Home page and under VAM list click on "Morgan Dollars Rotated Dies".
