SSDC now more usable !

Post by Andy Hansen » Sun Mar 20, 2022 6:23 pm

Special Thanks to John Coxe & the team at SSDC. :)

Notice on SSDC:
"The first page for coin registration now has the series there to make for a more usable scroll in selecting the variety on the second page. (2022-03-18 20:45:11)"

If you've ever entered a few coins, you will recognize this is a much-needed improvement

Thanks, all. One detail I didn't point out is that it learns the series you are registering. So if you do Peace dollars, for instance, you don't need to keep selecting that from the menu. It remembers rather than using a default series.

I had hoped to make it simple with cascading menus, but couldn't get it to work. It should be pretty simple actually.

Am I missing something? I only see Morgans on the "lists". Are there other dates?

It only shows the series you select. That series is, by default, the last one you registered.

Finally got cascading menus working. At the Registry, you will now see it as the way to find a census. The original complete menu list is still available as a form below this improved one. The only peculiarity, which might not be fixable is that the dates are ordered by the Philadelphia ones first, followed by the branch mints. This should make it more usable anyway.

How can I find a specific date and mint mark on the VAM value guide?

It is all there, but has not been opened up yet. Values need to be confirmed. The Peace dollars as well.

Will this be like the Vamview price guide?

Yes and no. As it presents currently, the coverage is essentially over the "list" VAMs. However, the entire catalogue in every grade is technically included. I have stayed away from setting valuations myself and simply await the call to turn on another list or, hopefully at some point, the entire catalogue. I could jump in as there would be no conflict of interest, as I sold almost all of my VAMs. Just a small number of Peace ones and maybe some raw Morgans of no interest. But OTOH, I am not tuned into the market as well now and would not be the right person to do it. It would require too much time to track sales all over the place. In any event, the premium Morgan values are essentially live at the Registry. I should get a pulse on where the rest are currently at some point.
