3 discoveries, 4 revisions, 1 kill

...and all from just 9 coins, including the reference specimens I sent for comparison. One of the revisions confuses me (I'm easy that way) because it looks like a new listing. I hope he doesn't bar me from making future submissions.

Killed:
1921-P VAM 3AH. I sent him a coin that has the same scribbles as the 3A1-2-3-4 "tail gouge" series, but it doesn't have a tail gouge.

New Discoveries:

-- 1921-P VAM 3A1a (the EDS version of the 3A1-2-3-4 series that doesn't have a tail gouge.) LVA said he didn't want to call it 3A0 (zero), because of the confusion the 0 creates, so he's broken 3A1 into 3A1a and 3A1b.

-- 1921-P VAM 1BP. No scribbles, but does have a distinctive horizontal "segmented die scratch" across the upper tail feathers next to the eagle's inner left leg.

-- 1892-S VAM 1A. (There's a separate older thread on the boards that contains several photos.) The most distinctive feature is the broken right star on the reverse.

Revisions:
-- 1921-P VAM 1B1-2-3. It looks from his letter that there is now a 1B3. He gives a revised listing for 1B2, but describes 1B3 without saying it's new or revised. I sent him a 1B1 that has everything except reverse die polishing that is the hallmark of that VAM.

-- 1921-P VAM 1AC1 and 1AC2. I sent him a coin that has everything for 1AC1 or 1AC2, except it has no reverse die polishing... so he revised them both.

-- 1921-P VAM 3A1. As previously mentioned, the old 3A1 attribution (tail gouge) has been split into 3A1a (no tail gouge) and 3A1b (with tail gouge).

You should touch base with @LateDateMorganGuy (Alan Scott) regarding 92-S VAM 1A. He spent some considerable time studying 92-S from online photos of higher grade coins.

Dennis,

Congrats on your finding!

What would be the New listing for the 1B3 since the 1B2 has the reverse pitting also?

Jimmy:

LVA's revision of 1B2 doesn't say anything about pitting, so my assumption is:

1B1 has the right scribbles, but no polishing
1B2 has the polishing
1B3 has the polishing and pitting

Dennis,

It was to my understand that Nate's finding of the 1B eliminated the 1O1 & 1O2 and it became 1B2 with the pitting.

I see you have received your package back from LVA. WTG! Lot of work to get a kill. Do you need any help setting up the new pages?
