This letter notes that some Morgan dollar patterns were struck during the Annual Assay Commission meeting, and distributed (likely sold for $1 each) to Commission members.
Some Morgan patterns struck during Annual Assay
Re: Some Morgan patterns struck during Annual Assay
Long handwriting is difficult to read when you have grown accustomed our 'new world' writings. I am getting better at it. Thanks All.

This should help ---
Feb 26 1878
Gov Pollock
Supt of Mint
My Dear Sir
I would like to have one of the new Silver dollars pieces as finally agreed upon for the new coinages. I obtained the two samples, specimens of which were struck while the recent Assay Com. Was in session. I suppose now in the almost certain prospect of the Silver bill becoming law you will be all prepared for the new work.
I remember with great pleasure my recent visit to the Mint.
Wishing you continued health, I am
Very Truly Yours,
Chas. Beardsley

The letter writer also used some archaic letter forms, so I presume he was older.
