No update yet on date of release on next edition of CHERRYPICKERS' GUIDE. All the supply dealers I know have been sold out of any CHERRYPICKERS' GUIDE for quite some time.

Nice Work and Interesting Variety!
Re: OT - 2007 P GW$ Elongated Third Ray
A lot of people are asking about when the new Whitman CherryPicker's edition will be coming out. No one seems to know or has an explanation as to why it is years behind it's scheduled release.
Re: OT - 2007 P GW$ Elongated Third Ray
And the question again is, why?
Re: OT - 2007 P GW$ Elongated Third Ray
I wonder if this has anything to do with it? If it is, I'd say it's time to "DUMP" Whitman!!!

Two major incentives, popularity and profit margin $ should overcome any production gliches.

Nothing to do with it. The CPG is put together by a large committee and from what I hear it can be a rather contentious process.

It will eventually get published and will sell out as all previous editions have
often the crusher of hopes and dreams

CONECA has now listed this variety as RDV -001 Elongated Third Ray in their "Variety Vista" under "The Presidential Golden Dollar Die Variety Book" with subtitle "Reverse Design Varieties for the Presidential Dollar".
The 2007 P GW$ variety RDV-001 is rated as (Rare).
James Wiles is the author of "Variety Vista".

It's nice to see. The more eyes on it the better I suppose, but James Wiles is late to the game. This was a done deal and had the stamp of approval from Tom Delorey months ago!RogerRock wrote: ↑Sun Sep 25, 2022 2:54 pmCONECA has now listed this variety as RDV -001 Elongated Third Ray in their "Variety Vista" under "The Presidential Golden Dollar Die Variety Book" with subtitle "Reverse Design Varieties for the Presidential Dollar".

It's also listed on John Wexler's site as WUFO-001.
I'm unclear as to what CONECA's relationship to Variety Vista is right now. My understanding was that James Wiles was no longer adding to the CONECA master listing, but everything that had been there before this transition took place was still good. New stuff has been in limbo and would show up only (or maybe just first) on CONECA's site. James Wiles has added some to Variety Vista, but with a W prefix to differentiate from the CONECA numbers. I don't know if RDV-001 is James's number or CONECA's. It would seem to be CONECA's, but there's no trace of it on their site or discussion forum.
It would be nice if this were an official CONECA listing, since "2007-P GW WUFO-1" takes up a little too much space on my labels.

With no disrespect to John, the "WUFO-001" number always seemed ridiculous to me! Unidentified Fascinating Oddity?? Really??
I guess no one wanted to go out on a limb or put their reputation on the line until Tom Delorey came along.
Re: OT - 2007 P GW$ Elongated Third Ray
Wexler obviously wasn't sure what it was, didn't think it was a die gouge, and thought it worthy to draw attention to. There are other moderns that have fit into this category, most notably the extra leaf Wisconsin quarters.
Is there a reference to Tom DeLorey's rationale for saying it's actually a design variety somewhere? I couldn't find anything on CONECA's site, nor could I find reference to it being called RDV-001 elsewhere.
