1880 P.......VAM-43
1880 P.......VAM-43
Hi everyone, I think I've attributed the coin correctly. On the bottom of the neck, is it Delamination ? Also, on the Rev on the wing's and breast it looks all spotty, does that mean a rusted Die was used ? Thanks all and all feedback always appreciated.

Re: 1880 P.......VAM-43
Yes. It looks just like mine. PCGS 64 with a VSS sticker.
Re: 1880 P.......VAM-43
Hi blh74, thanks for your feedback, does your coin have that mark on the neck? And does your reverse look like a rusted die was used?
Re: 1880 P.......VAM-43
Mine has a small crater about the size of the M directly above the M about a mm. Don`t see any rust on the reverse. Has all the other PUP`s.
Re: 1880 P.......VAM-43
I believe what you see on the neck is PMD, but you're correct on the VAM-43 attribution.
Here's a couple of pictures of my PCGS64 showing a clear neck:
Hope these help. You've got a nice coin.

Re: 1880 P.......VAM-43
I'm thinking PMD as well. I think mine is correctly attributed and it has no such neck.

Re: 1880 P.......VAM-43
what about struck through grease? 1880 v32a, 1901o v25a, and others are famous for struck through grease on the lower neck.
Re: 1880 P.......VAM-43
I do not think that is PMD. I have seen it before and there is no sign of PMD on the ones I have seen.
Re: 1880 P.......VAM-43
Thank you vamsterdam and fogie for your feedback, I didn't think It was pmd.
