Stereo Microscope?
Any advise on buying a stereo microscope with camera? There seems to be allot of AmScope 3.5-90x or 180x Zoom Stereo Microscopes and different camera configurations (1.5, 3, 8 10, 14mp) that seem interesting. I wondered if anyone is using one and what they are using ....
When it's no longer fun, I think I'm done!
Re: Stereo Microscope?
I use conventional 35mm DSLR equipment, including macro lenses and extension tubes. But I will say that magnification power of 5x to 30x is about all I can envision being necessary.
When in doubt... don't.
Re: Stereo Microscope?
Bausch & Lomb StereoZoom 4 with 10x eyepieces, purchased used on eBay. Fluorescent ring light with about 1/3 of it covered with black tape to give better shadows. It gives me a 7-30x zoom, which is sufficient. Photos are taken with a point and shoot camera through the eyepiece. I've used this for tens of thousands of photos and it's very easy to use for inspection.
I don't know of a digital stereo microscope. Stereo implies you are feeding each eye a different image to give to the depth information you need, and stereo microscopes have two optical chains (objective, mirrors/prisms, focusing mechanics, eyepiece) to support this.

Do you mean "stereo" or "binocular?"SilverToken wrote: ↑Wed Dec 08, 2021 12:54 amAny advise on buying a stereo microscope with camera? Re: Stereo Microscope?
I like colwillys note because the older I get the greater magnification I need, and I am easing up on the big 75. Maybe I need a 75x.

Re: Stereo Microscope?
So is the rule "1x per year" or "5x per year over 70?"
Re: Stereo Microscope?
