I do admit though I am intrigued and will try and buy them . I really like the new Peace Dollar much more than the Morgan’s . I just wish they would of done the proof Morgan’s this year and only continued with the Peace Dollars .

I am a little disappointed that they made these annual offerings. Proofs (and probably reverse proofs) will be sold next fall. As John pointed out, the mint's proof style leaves much to be desired. I may break down and get the S mint proof Peace, but I don't think I'll get any more of the Morgans. I'm just not thrilled with the look of them. I think the Peace Dollars look closer to the real thing (although they used the wrong reverse for the 2021).

I would bet that any engraver given the opportunity to recreate 19th century craftsmanship would jump at the chance. Pity it won't happen, though.

The Mint's sculptor/engravers have little role in die production or coinage, except to clean up burrs from the cutting tools. Laser cut frosting has improved over the past 15 years, but remains very inferior to the old acid treatment. The sad truth is that no one in charge at the Bureau has given the production managers clear guidance and examples of the quality we collectors expect. That, alone, accounts for low quality in the eyes of experienced coin collectors. The capability to make almost exact duplicates exists, but is not used.

Since they are proofs, like the annual sets, will this allow for pre-order and quell the Chaos? Sure hope so...

I'll join you in the "no interest" category. I used to maintain complete sets until the mint decided they needed to add a dozen different variations each year. State quarters, the nickel series, varieties of cents, and on and on. It became to much to bother with. I'll just stick to VAMs and older series error coins for now.

I don't have any great interest in the newer Morgan and Peace dollars (other than their silver content,) but my brother always says, "If everybody liked the same things we like, it would just drive up the price."

Striking 90% silver would be best. Maybe even cooler would be to strike them on the current clad alloy planchets and sell them for a buck each as pseudo-circulating currency. Would be fun to spend them.

Yeah, like john said, if they struck them in clad(oh, the sacrilege!) and sold them cheap so everyone could have them, then i could be interesting.

I received a survey today from the US Mint in reference to potential new offerings of the Peace & Morgan Dollars for 2022. They added a S Mint Peace & a 2022 2pc Reverse Proof Peace & Morgan Set for $195, if offered, I'd get the 2022-P&S Peace & the Reverse Proof Set.
