2021-D "bag marks"

Post by madbirder » Sat Oct 30, 2021 11:23 pm

Now comes with bag marks! Trying too hard to make them look like originals. Mint's a joke, and not a funny one.

Also scratches along the edge of the rim on two of my 2021-D's, the packaging was spotty as well with many open, even some of the capsules. Looks like it had been tossed around a lot. My Peace and Philly were both packed much better. Just depends on the person at the mint packing your package. Not spotted any MS-70's in this bunch, glad I didn't buy a lot of them. Mushy, not sharp and lack luster. Still to get my CC's and O's, let's hope they show up alright.

Looks like possibly die scratches along the rim periphery. (Are they raised under magnification?) The others look more post-minting. Were the capsules closed when you received them?

The X scratch looks raised to me, the edge scratches look like it had been turned against something hard, I've got several like these that look this way, one with some of the reeding cut off at an angle as if someone took a file to it to rub off some excess silver. Overall quality control is very spotty at best. One of the capsules was open, not the one with the "bag marks".

Were they trying to make the coins look "authentic" by bagging and aging them?

Die detail and sharpness are terrible....not close to the quality of the original.
