1878 7tf Vam 80b, I think!!!!
1878 7tf Vam 80b, I think!!!!
Tough to get pics of this beauty, but maybe some of you here can help. Looks like displaced field breaks on reverse where cracks surround the entire reverse letters. Also, what's going on with the left foot & talons?? This Eagle has a club foot!!! What caused this? Heavy polish lines cover the lower fields.

Over used and or wore out die .. Does not look like grease .
Good pick to have . I like the metal flow . ( Eagles foot )

Thanks TT,(Texas Tom). Well,if that's the case,i assume we can say that it's LDS!!! Anyone know who discovered the 80b in 2017? Would love to see some better pics of this Vam.

FYI, According to a top-notch VAMpicker...the obverse die progression is 85, 80, 80(A), 86, 22(A) and 221(B). Sure would like to see your photo of the die polishing scratches inside "Liberty". Always looking and hoping to nail specimens of that 1878 P progression.

Here you go "Short" !!!!

Also, some "PUP's" not mentioned in description. Seem to be on all obverse progressions, with the exception of v221B.The 221B has the doubled eye,but from what I can see from LFCP on pages, does not have the die scratches above "U & R".

since when does 1878 vam 80 and vam 22 share an obverse with vam 221B??
Re: 1878 7tf Vam 80b, I think!!!!
Never!!! Duh, 22b not 221b

Bigjay, Thanks for the closeup photo of "Liberty" polishing marks. Yep, 22(B), not 221 (B)...that would be a heckuva stretch.
