2021 Morgans (pictures)

Post by Raybob15239 » Sat Oct 23, 2021 12:57 am

Not mine. Pulled from a Collector's Universe coin forum thread. Need to see mine in hand, but I am underwhelmed with the luster. The coin otherwise appears to be a faithful reproduction.

These weren't made to have the luster of the originals.

They are better than I expected. Of course it was a low bar based on the San Francisco Mint commemorative reverse. I think the Peace Dollar will end up being the best looking of them and can't wait to see it.

I think the Mint missed a big opportunity in not producing a limited number of each in the original 90% silver alloy. But the numbskulls would have sooner done a West Point Morgan and Peace before considering that.

My understanding is that they couldn't get enough of the 90% silver planchets economically and in time and that is why it's .999 fine silver. But I agree. Original composition would have been best.
