1883-S Scribble Jaw

These are found on an unknown (to me) VAM of the 1883-S breed.

I don’t know your mm location, but look at the VAM-12 page. See what it says about EDS.

Love how the San Fran mint was brutal with their dies between 1878 and at least 1882 (but scratching the heck out of them well beyond that). Can't imagine needing to depend on reusing whatever working dies they had available - and the immense pressures to produce as many as they did (approx 9-12 million each year), with the level of technologies they had - and not being able to get as much help as they needed from Philly...

Love the semi-bearded lady look of these scratches. Reminds me of my German grandmother every time she came in close to give me a kiss... Always had a handful of whiskers that brushed my cheek during the events.
